Experienced mechanic to maintain and repair district owned vehicles,
including buses, to ensure safe and efficient vehicle operation.

QUALIFICATIONS: INCLUDING EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two years as an automotive or truck mechanic preferred
Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with school bus and passenger endorsements or ability to obtain endorsements within 90 days of hire date.
State of Maine Inspection License for school buses or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
State of Maine Inspection License for regular vehicles or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
Valid DOE fingerprinting certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Performing preventative maintenance and emergency service for all vehicles.
Maintaining/repairing bus engines, transmissions, brake systems etc.
Performing state inspections for both district vehicles and buses.
Maintaining inventory of parts necessary for effective turnaround time on repairs.
Maintaining an organized work area for safe operation of the garage.
Processing work orders and maintaining detailed records of repairs.
Plowing as needed during the winter months.
Driving bus as a substitute driver as determined by Transportation Supervisor.
Performing other related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or appropriate administrator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
52 weeks per year. 40 hours per week. Earned paid vacation. Full Benefits/Competitive Wage and benefits package.
