A new position has been created for a controller of a family-owned builder of custom yachts in the mid-coast area of Maine. This multi-division company has four locations encompassing a modern yacht construction facility, two service and refit locations, marina, metal fabrication and composites facilities and brokerage offices. The non-yacht operations support residential and commercial construction projects as well as government projects and other ventures.
The controller should be skilled in providing financial direction to the organization in addition to the normal monthly reporting responsibilities for the corporation and related entities. It is anticipated that the company will be converting to a standard cost system in the future and, accordingly, applicants should be able to demonstrate their competence in standard cost accounting. The successful individual should, over time, be capable of replacing the chief financial officer over the next 12-24 month period and assuming responsibilities for the human resources, information technology and safety & environmental departments.
The successful candidate should have a background in financial reporting and cash management for privately held companies and exposure to manufacturing and service operations. Ideally, he/she should have exposure to yachting and/or marina operations and, ideally, some connection to the mid-coast area of Maine. The compensation is geared towards the lower end of the FENG range, but will rise as the chief financial officer exits the organization. The company offers a full range of benefits including health insurance, 401 (k) plan, vacation, etc.
The company prefers local candidates and will consider other qualified candidates. Please send a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org
