The Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting in the medical care and treatment of students.
- Monitors and maintains students’ chronic care plans.
- Triages students to determine care options.
- Assists with referrals to outside providers as needed.
- Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates.
- Dresses wounds.
- Administers specified medication and annotates time and amounts on students’ charts.
- Assembles and uses various medical equipment.
- Sterilizes equipment and supplies.
- Ensures high sanitary and safety conditions of clinic.
- Assists in physicals of all new students.
Minimum: State of Maine Registered Nurse’s License
Preferred: Two or more years’ experience as a practicing Registered Nurse.
Knowledge Required: Updated knowledge of nursing practices/procedures. Ability to relate effectively to student population. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Good organizational skills. Ability to carry out instructions with minimal supervision.
