Mid-Level Piping Designer

We are looking for a candidate who will provide mechanical and piping design support on multiple mill engineering projects which can happen concurrently. The employee will be embedded as part of field team to support plant-based projects at a large-scale pulp & paper mill, producing high-quality coated and box papers (i.e. magazine paper). The individual will interface with operations, maintenance, mill engineering and follow projects from design inception, through installation and start-up.
This employee will be responsible for design support on pulp & paper mill engineering projects including creating P&ID’s, piping and mechanical layouts, interconnect diagrams, installation details, material specifications, fabrication drawings, as well as providing project estimates. Among other things the candidate will do on-site field survey work and provide checkout and startup assistance. The candidate must be able to climb ladders, work in a pulp and paper mill environment and work in confine spaces. Need to be organized and able to handle multiple projects at the same time, and able to solve technical problems in a fast-paced environment.
- 2-5 Years, experience in mechanical design and equipment layout
- Engineering or other related technical associates degree required.
- Proficiency in AutoCad
- Experience in an Industrial environment with mill operations, equipment and design practices
